Development of a core curriculum for training and/or certification of hospital environmental hygiene personnel. It will be designed using an implementation science-centered approach that can be adapted across cultural, geographical areas and resource levels. The education committee is currently working on collecting existing models which will be analyzed and discussed with an international expert group. The objective is to develop an official core curriculum which will be published and promoted by the end of 2020.
Creation of teaching and training modules in key areas of hospital environmental hygiene. Areas covered will include surfaces, waste management, air, water, sterilization and device reprocessing, information technology, and implementation science. Subjects will be broken down into modules across three levels; from beginner to advanced. Institutions can choose which subjects and levels they would like to have trainings in. The objective is to finalize the first basic models the first half year in 2020.
